The idea for an updated American, Irish, Scottish and English sports pub was the brain child of successful restaurateur Mark DiMartino.  True to his beginnings, Mark dressed in his finest T-shirt, ripped Levi’s and well-worn Chuck Taylor sneakers and pitched his idea of a contemporary, Celtic theme sports pub staffed with beautiful servers to Harrah’s hotel executives.  Then came the real kicker, the uniforms would be knee high socks, short plaid kilts with matching plaid halter tops, with white over shirts tied off to show off the midriff.

After an hour of contemplation, Harrah’s top decision makers were obviously impressed with the proposal. They invited Mark back, wanting to know when he could start the project, and with that, the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery was born.

The second Tilted Kilt opened in the summer of 2005 in Tempe.  The third opened later in 2005 in Round Rock, which is a suburb of Austin.  Each pub is decorated in authentic Scottish, Irish, English, and early American styles.  This decoration routinely includes artifacts and artwork chosen carefully to fit with the rest of the décor.  The typical Tilted Kilt location is roughly 6000 (Six Thousand) square feet in size.  This allows the pub to be large enough to fit the demand it creates, while still holding on to a quaint pub feel.  This lends itself to an atmosphere that customers will be drawn to and won’t want to leave.

The Tilted Kilt Training Center is currently under construction at Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd and Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, Arizona.  This building will create a centralized location for the training for all future franchises.  This became a necessity almost immediately after franchises became a reality with the Tilted Kilt.  In March of 2006 the franchise concept was released to a resoundingly positive reaction.  In fact, more than 100 (One Hundred) potential franchisees were lined up for information at the launch of the franchise opportunity. 

The financial requirements for opening a Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery franchise is a total net worth of roughly $1,500,000 (One Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars).  The initial investment in the franchise is expected to be between $800,000 (Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars) and $1,200,000 (One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars).  This investment will include access to the support team that will allows the franchise to start off on the right foot.  Ongoing support will keep everything running as smoothly as possible for each franchise to avoid any potential pitfalls when it comes to a running the day to day business.
